Marathon Weekend

This is actually the best picture that I managed to take of the paddlers.

For those of you that don't know, the canoe marathon is pretty much Grayling largest even of the year...it IS the largest event. People run, hop into their canoes, and take off on about a fifteen hour trip from point A (Grayling) to point B (whetever that is).

It was an good time, besides not being able to walk ten minutes outside without breaking a sweat, or trying to find a cool place to retreat to, only to have it completly packed (spikes).

If you're from Grayling you might think this is amusing. I was talking to my sister-in-law who is up for the weekend, and she's is from Ohio. So the race is something she's never heard of before. Friday night I was talking to her about it, and I told her that it starts at 9. Well the next day we got up at 9:30 AM and she was like, "oh, looks like we missed the race." I got a kick out of that.

I don't follow the race, never have, I don't buy the shirts that say MO and whoever else, I rarely know who wins, but going and being with my friends is just...tradition. I feel like I should care less whether I go or not, but there's something about being in that town and knowing half the people that live in it, and meeting the ones you don't already know is just too fun, I decided that I like living in a small town. Ok, so I don't exactly live in Grayling, but close enough.
